The cotton gin increased the demand for slaves because it required more cotton to be picked so they needed more slaves to pick cotton. It cost about $450 for a male slave before 1830's. A male slave cost $900 after the 1850's. The difference in the two prices is $450. I found the answer on ask.com.

Before 1830 slaves in the North cost average of $521, in the south the cost around $948. After 1850 the cost around $935 in the north, and $1,658, in the south. The cotton gin made a more need for slaves because the owners had increased production so they needed more slave to get even more cotton made for more money.

The cotton gin increased the demands for the slaves because each slave has to pick 50 lbs. of cotton not only using their hands they used the cotton gin to make it a little bit easier for them. The average price for a healthy male slave was about $450. The price for another one would be like $250. These are different because if they buy a healthier man they would be able to do more, if they were sick they wouldn't be able to do anything for their owner so they were sold cheap.

I was already effective but this gave it a little boost! A healthy male slave was about $450 in 1830s, the same type of slave in the 1850s it was over a thousand!
