Jackson belived that he could use that land or economic purposes. Like he could sell the land and profits for federal revenue. Also he would sell, and export cotton it was a pretty big thing to sell back then in the southern states. If there was more land then there was more money and for Jackson there was no reason he couldn't move the Native Americans out, but when he did he gain money. And moving them was a way to make money and he just wanted money.

Indian removal was a nineteenth century policy of the government of the United States to relocate Native American tribes living east of the Mississippi River to lands west of the river. The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 26, 1830

Tony Hubbard -In 1838 and 1839, as part of Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy, the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and to migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma. The Cherokee people called this journey the "Trail of Tears," because of its devastating effects. The migrants faced hunger, disease, and exhaustion on the forced march. Over 4,000 out of 15,000 of the Cherokees died.

Indian removal, which involved transferring lands in the trans-Mississippi West to Native American groups who gave up their homelands east of the Mississippi, dominated U.S. government Indian policy between the War of 1812 and the middle of the nineteenth century. This practice, although not without detractors, had the support of several very important groups: speculators who coveted Indian lands, uneasy eastern settlers who feared Indian attacks, and missionary groups who felt that relocation would save the Indians from the degrading influences of their white neighbors.

The Trail of Tears is a name given to the forced relocation and movement of Native American nations from southeastern parts of the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The removal included many members of the Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations, among others in the United States, from their homelands to Indian Territory (eastern sections of the present-day state of Oklahoma). The phrase originated from a description of the removal of the Choctaw Nation in 1831. Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease and starvation en route to their destinations. Many died, including 4,000 of the 15,000 relocated Cherokee.
Andrew Jackson (and the State of Georgia, insisting on
"States' rights") was instrumental in creating the Trail of
Tears - believing in the white man's 'god-given right' to attain
land at whatever cost, his policies pushed the Native
Americans off their home territories. His policy was
furthered by the Supreme Court, which denied nationhood
status to Native American, making them subject to
American laws without the privilege of being American
citizens (the court would reverse the decision, but the
damage had been done). This 'manifest destiny' spurred
westward expansion, imperialism, and genocide - as well as
helped perpetuate the Southern slave system. Expansion
was wholly advocated by southern plantation owners, as
they wanted more land to grow more cotton crops.

The Jacksonian legacy was an extension of George
Washington and Thomas Jefferson's anti-Indian policies as
well.

There had been conflicts between whites and native americans since the first white settlers arrived in North America. But in the early 1800s the issue had come down to white settlers enroaching on indian lands in southern U.S. Andrew Jackson had a long and complicated history with Indians, having grown up in frontier settlements where stories of Indian attacks were common. Jackson felt that the Indians would never fit in with the white people so it would be in their best interest to move hundreds of miles away westward .
