who won: Thomas Jefferson defeated John Adams.

How: Alexander Hamilton helped Jefferson win by him influencing people on there votes to vote for Jefferson not John Adams.

The election confirmed the emergence of a two party system in American politics.

The outcome was that Thomas Jefferson won because when The House of Representatives did the Electoral college voting, they came out with the same outcome as the regular electoral college, which was even. Then Alexander Hamilton came in and convinced them to vote for Thomas Jefferson. It changed American politics because for TWO straight presidency's, we had Federalists mostly Federalists in our politics. So it was a good change to a different view of politics from a Democratic-Republican. I learned about the HUGE role Alexander Hamilton had on our nation's political future.

Thomas Jefferson won the election of 1800.He won because more people in the house of representatives voted for Jefferson then Adams. As a result Jeferson was the first president to be inaugurated in Washington, D.c. also there was a new role that any law passed by congress can be declared unconstitutional by courts. a few more things that happened as a result to Jefferson's presidency was that france purchased the Louisiana and Meriwether Lewis and William clark began their exploration of the Northwest. One thing that I learned about the outcome of the election was that the Twelfth Amendment to the Constitution ratified in 1804.

Thomas Jefferson won the election of 1800 even though he had the same number of votes as his vice president. It took the old Federalist Congress to make the decision. Alexander Hamilton helped get Jefferson elected because he though Jefferson was the lesser of two evils. In his inaugural address he stated that "though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will, to be rightful, must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal laws must protect, and to violate would be oppression." This meant that he supported the rights of minorities to be equal in the eyes of the law.
